Nos chercheurs

Les trente-deux professeurs et quatre professeurs de clinique du Département dirigent des programmes de recherche à la fine pointe de la biochimie et de la bio-informatique. De plus, quarante professeurs accrédités ou associés, oeuvrant dans différents centres ou instituts de recherche (BRI, CR-CHUM, HMR, ICM, IRCM, IRIC, Ste-Justine), participent à la formation d’étudiants aux cycles supérieurs du Département et contribuent à une plus grande diversification de la recherche et de l’enseignement.

Avec plus de 200 étudiants aux cycles supérieurs, des stagiaires postdoctoraux et professionnels de la recherche, ils mènent des activités de recherche regroupées selon 5 axes de recherche qui portent sur les mécanismes fondamentaux de la vie et les fondements moléculaires de la médecine.

Prix et distinctions

Promotion/nomination

Nous félicitons Dr Carine Nyalendo pour sa nomination au titre de professeure-adjointe de clinique au Département de biochimie et médecine moléculaire. Madame Nyalendo est une biochimiste clinique et chercheure associée au CHU-Ste-Justine. Mme Nyalendo est également chef du département clinique de biochimie.

Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que la nomination du Dr Sebastian Pechmann et Dr Adrian Serohijos à titre de professeurs adjoints au Département de biochimie et médecine moléculaire a été renouvelée pour un deuxième mandat de trois ans. Dr Pechmann et Dr Serohijos sont des piliers de la recherche et de la formation en bio-informatique à l’Université de Montréal.

Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer la titularisation de Dre Nathalie Grandvaux, effectif le premier juin 2017. Mme Grandvaux dont les laboratoires sont situés au Centre de recherche du CHUM s’intéresse aux mécanismes de défense antiviraux, notamment à l’immunité innée et à l’inflammation.

Nous félicitons le Dr Karim Benkirane pour sa nomination en tant que professeur-adjoint de clinique. Monsieur Benkirane est un biochimiste clinique qui travaille à l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

Prix et distinctions

Dr Michel Bouvier a reçu le prestigieux prix Wilder-Penfield. Le prix Wilder-Penfield souligne l’apport inestimable de ses lauréats au développement de la recherche dans le domaine biomédical (http://www.prixduquebec.gouv.qc.ca/index.php). Les travaux du Dr Bouvier sur les récepteurs couplés aux protéines G sont à l’origine de concepts pharmacologiques permettant l’élaboration de nouvelles classes de médicaments. Cette famille de récepteurs joue un rôle clé dans le contrôle de plusieurs processus biologiques aussi divers que la neurotransmission, le métabolisme, la croissance cellulaire, les réponses immunitaires et inflammatoires, l’olfaction et la vision.

Madame Lorea Alejaldre Ripalda a reçu la Bourse d’excellence « J.A. DeSève » de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Madame Alejaldre Ripalda effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire du Dr Joelle Pelletier dans le programme de biochimie.

Monsieur Louis Gauthier a reçu la Bourse de la réussite étudiante de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Monsieur Gauthier effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire du Dr Adrian Serohijos dans le programme de bio-informatique.

Madame Lisa-Marie Legault a reçu la Bourse d’excellence « Excellence Hydro-Québec » de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Madame Legault effectue ses travaux de maîtrise dans le laboratoire du Dr Serge McGraw, dans le programme de biochimie.

Monsieur Anh-Tien Ton a reçu la Bourse d’excellence « Famille Auclair » de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Monsieur Ton effectue ses travaux de maîtrise dans le laboratoire du Dr Adrian Serohijos dans le programme de bio-informatique.

Madame Jacynthe Toulouse a reçu la Bourse d’excellence « Excellence Hydro-Québec » de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Madame Toulouse effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire du Dr Joelle Pelletier dans le programme de biochimie.

Monsieur Aurélien Fouillen a reçu la Bourse de fin d’études doctorales de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Monsieur Fouillen effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire de M. Antonio Nanci dans le programme de biochimie.

Monsieur Samuel Tremblay-Belzile a reçu la Bourse de fin d’études doctorales de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Monsieur Tremblay-Belzile effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire de M. Normand Brisson dans le programme de biochimie.

Madame Charline Mary a reçu la Bourse de fin d’études doctorales de la Faculté des Études Supérieures et Postdoctorales de l’Université de Montréal (FESP). Madame Mary effectue ses travaux de doctorat dans le laboratoire de M. Christian Baron dans le programme de biochimie.

Dr Michel Bouvier a été récompensé pour ses contributions à titre de scientifique et de mentor par le prix Julius Axelrod en pharmacologie 2017. Ce prix est octroyé par l’American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

Dr Daniel Zenklusen a reçu la bourse de chercheur-boursier Junior 2 du FRQ-S pour le projet: disséquer les mécanismes régulant l’expression des gènes en utilisant des approches de molécules uniques.
