SAXS yields information on both size, shape, density and molecular weight of particles.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\">Description of the equipment<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The SAXSLAB Bio-Nordic is equipped with a vacuum GANESHA platform which enables the measurement of X-rays scattering at small angles for vectors of momentum transfer (<em>q-values<\/em>) from 0.0006 to 3.4 \u00c5-1, for both SAXS (<em>small angle<\/em>) and WAXS (<em>wide angle<\/em>) applications, for particles up to 150 nm in diameter.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\">X-rays source<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The X-rays are generated by a Excillum MetalJet D2+ 70 kV source using a 95 % gallium alloy (liquid jet anode &#8211; 1.34 \u00c5). This powerful X-rays source offer superior brightness when compared to a conventional rotating anode and thus enables fast analysis of samples.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\">Size-exclusion chromatography system<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The optional addition of an \u00c4KTAmicro chromatography system (GE Healthcare) enables size-exclusion type separation of biomolecules prior to SAXS analysis. The inline attachment lets the research to simultaneously separate by chromatography and analyze by SAXS each detected peak. A UV light\/detector (Biocube, SAXSLAB) is also present on the SAXS system for direct absorbance measurement.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\">Detector<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Bio-Nordic is equipped with a Dectris hybrid photon counting detector (<a href=\"https:\/\/can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dectris.com%2Fdetectors%2Fx-ray-detectors%2Feiger2%2Feiger2-for-laboratories%2Feiger2-r%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7Caudrey.noel%40umontreal.ca%7Cbcf91c8390524c5fa47a08dbb5ee6d75%7Cd27eefec2a474be7981e0f8977fa31d8%7C1%7C0%7C638303807854059854%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=b5gl9zF4EmUs4ZyEBqa2RG8hms9bXhS7ils5Xp1F1uI%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Dectris EIGER2 R 1M<\/a>) offering micrometric spacial resolution (75 \u00b5m x 75 \u00b5m) and a wide dynamic range and a large pixel array (1M pixels). The detector is water-cooled and installed in a vacuum chamber therefore eliminating air scattering.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\">High-throughput screening<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A high-throughput robot installed on the Bio-Nordic enables screening refrigerated 96-well plates by automating liquid handling.
