We study how proteins fold in the cell, and how the cell as a system maintains protein homeostasis. Using computational, evolutionary, and systems biology approaches, we analyze and integrate sequence, structural and systems biology data to understand biological design principles and regulatory mechanisms that support proteome integrity. Our research will uncover fundamental principles of protein folding and quality control, and contribute to a better understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and aging that are linked to failure and decline of protein homeostasis.
